An Ex-convict, Akwasi Opoku alias Indomie has been jailed for a total of 21 years in hard labour for stealing slippers among other criminal acts at Techimantia in the Ahafo Region.
Akwasi Opoku pleaded guilty to stealing 25 pairs of male slippers valued at GHc3,750, 7 pairs of female sandals valued at GHc630 and 2 pairs of children's sandals valued at GHC100 admitted the offence in his caution statement.
The Duayaw Nkwanta Circuit Court presided over by Akosua Asantewaa Sarpong Esq, handed down the 8-year jail term to the suspect who had gained notoriety for criminal acts in the area.
The court also found the suspect guilty of assault, threat of death and illegal possession of a weapon and jailed him for 13 years in total.
