Former Executive Vice President of Unilever Global Markets Yaw Nsarkoh has questioned President-elect John Dramani Mahama on how he intends to fill the hole that will be created when he scraps the taxes he has promised to.
Prior to the election of 2024, John Dramani Mahama, in a social contract with Ghanaians, promised to scrap some taxes he describes as nuisance taxes.
Among these taxes are the betting tax, e-levy, COVID levy, and emissions tax.
Yaw Nsarkoh is worried that populism can lead Ghana into the ditch, as John Dramani Mahama hasn't provided a clear-cut plan on how he intends to generate revenue to cover the taxes he intends to scrap.
