A Vice President of IMANI Africa, Bright Simons, has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) against assuming that their support base will return once their anger has subsided.
He pointed out that this is how the Convention People's Party (CPP) lost Asante, where it had a significant base before independence.
Simons indicated that he predicted last year that a substantial portion of the NPP's base would not turn out to vote in the 2024 general elections.
He explained that a political party's base has layers, which together create a "winning coalition." The outer layer, he noted, can dissociate quite easily when the party's appeal drops.
