Following the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) defeat in the 2024 general elections, Vice President Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia, who was the party's presidential candidate, delivered a powerful message to the NPP's diasporan branch in Accra.
Addressing party members at his official residence, he emphasized the need for unity and a comprehensive rebuilding process to move the party forward.
Acknowledging the challenges the party faced during the election, Bawumia shared his concerns about the absence of key members, many of whom stayed home due to unresolved issues. "Our core members stayed home because they had issues, so we have to look at unity," Bawumia stated, underlining that unity must be the central focus as the party works to heal and regroup. "Unity is key for us, and that is very important." Bawumia called for a thorough reflection on the party's current state, suggesting that a complete overhaul might be necessary.
