President-elect John Dramani Mahama has said that it will be necessary for him and outgoing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to keep the channel of communication between them active even after the transitional process.

Mr Mahama said he was happy that President Akufo-Addo expressed his readiness to cooperate with him to ensure Ghana's democracy is consolidated.

Addressing the media after the inauguration of the Presidential Transition team on Wednesday, December 11, at the seat of government on Wednesday, December 11, he said "Mr President has given me a brief on the security situation both internal and external and also a short brief on issues to do with the economy of course the transitional team will drill down further on these matters. "I am happy with the assurances that we are going to work together to ensure a seemliness transition.

I believe that even after the transition it will be necessary for us to continue to keep the channel of communications so that Ghana's democratic credentials are consolidated and we all work in the nation's interest." For his part, President Akufo-Addo has celebrated Ghana's achievement as a functioning, effective democratic state which respects the will of the people.
