Sudan coach and Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council (Exco) member Kwesi Appiah has revealed how the ExCo handled his dual role as Sudan coach and ExCo member.

Kwesi Appiah was asked by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to step down from one of his roles, as Sudan coach or member of the Executive Council, due to his side being paired in the same 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying group as Ghana.

Appiah adhered to CAF's directive, which was hinged on the premise of 'conflicting interest,' giving up his role as a member of the GFA Executive Council until the conclusion of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Speaking to Oyerepa FM, the Sudan manager admitted that in crunch meetings involving the Black Stars, he was asked to excuse the Executive Council to take decisions. "Since Ghana and Sudan were placed in the same qualification group, what happened was when the ExCo was having any discussion on the Black Stars, I was asked to leave the meetings so they can discuss.
