Ghanaian rapper Medikal has joined the bandwagon of celebs criticising the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he described as unjust treatment during their tenure in government.

The rapper claimed that he was arrested and detained at the Ankaful Maximum Security Prison for no tangible reason, adding that his lawyers were met with the dismissive response that his incarceration was "an order from above." Medikal expressed his grievances in a post on social media, noting that the experience left him distrustful of the NPP's approach to governance.

However, he acknowledged his belief in Ghana's incoming president, John Dramani Mahama, expressing hope that the change in leadership would bring significant improvements, especially for the youth.

He also made a personal appeal to Mahama to focus on bettering opportunities for the younger generation and referenced Sharaf, Mahama's son, as a friend and a symbol of hope for youth empowerment. "NPP arrested me for no tangible reason, NPP put me in cells, locked me up in jail (Ankaful Maximum security prison) all in the name of power.
