A total of 23 women are contesting in the 2024 parliamentary elections in the Ashanti region.
Apart from Madam Patricia Appiagyei, the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament for Asokwa, who is contesting the seat again, the rest of the female candidates are contesting their seats for the first time.
The Ashanti region has a total of 142 candidates contesting for the 47 parliamentary seats in the area, and among the constituencies where women are vying for the seats are Ejisu, Ejura-Sekyereduma, Asante Akim South and Asokwa.
Again, 22 people are also contesting the parliamentary elections as Independent Candidates.
