Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of engaging in a deliberate scheme to facilitate ballot stuffing by exposing the serial numbers of validating stamps ahead of the December 7 elections.
In a Facebook post on Friday, December 6, Mahama alleged that some EC staff members had disclosed the serial numbers of validating stamps, a move he claims could be used to manipulate the voting process. "Since Thursday night, the National Democratic Congress has reported several cases of exposed Validating Stamps to the Commission yet they have refused to issue a clear and unambiguous directive to stop their staff from disclosing the identities and details of the validating stamps ahead of tomorrow's general elections" He further argued that the exposed stamps could enable parties to produce fake ballot papers bearing similar stamps, giving the appearance of legitimacy.
Mahama accused the EC of working to favour the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and described the alleged actions as part of a broader effort to rig the elections.
However, he expressed confidence that Ghanaians would vote for change despite these challenges.
