The Ghana Police Service and the have launched investigations into a breach of protocol involving the transportation of election materials in the Afadjato South Constituency of the Volta Region.
The District Electoral Officer (DEO) was found using a private vehicle without a police escort to transport the materials, contrary to the Commission's established policy.
In a statement by the EC on Friday, December 6, 2024, a Deputy Chairperson of Operations, Samuel Tettey, noted that the officer involved in the unauthorized transport of election materials was questioned by the Police on Thursday, December 5, 2024. "Officers of the Ghana Police Service yesterday questioned the Commission's District Electoral Officer (DEO) of the Afadjato South in the Volta Region for transporting Election Materials in a private vehicle without Police escort.
The Police subsequently took custody of the items," it stated.
