The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has stated that Ghanaians made a grave mistake by not granting Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP the opportunity to continue the legacy of former President John Agyekum Kufuor after the 2008 elections.
Speaking at a meeting of professionals in Kumasi, which was attended by President Akufo-Addo and other NPP stalwarts, Chairman Wontumi expressed regret over the outcome of the 2008 elections, emphasizing that it was an error that should not be repeated in 2024. "Ghanaians made a big mistake in 2008 during the elections.
There was no reason to vote for the NDC; power should have been given to Nana Addo and the NPP to continue the good deeds of former President Kufuor," he remarked.
Chairman Wontumi criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claiming that they often dismantle the progress made by the NPP. "Anytime the NPP builds a solid foundation, the NDC comes in and destroys it.
