The Member of Parliament(MP) for Ningo Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of orchestrating efforts to delay the passage of the anti-LGBTQ bill currently before Parliament.
According to Sam George, the President has allegedly enlisted the assistance of the Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, to use the judicial system to stall the process.
Speaking during a panel discussion on TV3's NewDay program, monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Sam George claimed, "President Akufo-Addo is a part of the LGBTQ cabal, which explains his refusal to endorse the bill." He further referenced the President's remarks in an international interview, where he stated that legalizing LGBTQ in Ghana would require advocacy within the country, suggesting hesitancy on the part of the President to support the legislation.
Sam George also drew attention to familial connections, alleging that Paul Danquah, a cousin of President Akufo-Addo and son of the late William Ofori Atta, is celebrated internationally as an LGBTQ advocate.
