Baba Rahman has opened up about his continued connection with the Black Stars, despite taking a break from playing.
The PAOK defender has not featured for Ghana since September of last year, and he turned down several invitations, including to play in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which saw Ghana exit in the group stage.
Before the tournament, Rahman explained that he wanted to focus on his club football.
In a recent interview with BBC Sport Africa, the left-back clarified his decision: "It's a personal decision to take a break (from Ghana) to concentrate on my fitness because I've not had a great time with injuries." "When I joined PAOK last year, I just thought it was wise to stay away a bit from international football to get my fitness back." Between January 2017 and September 2020, Rahman endured a frustrating spell on the sidelines, missing 999 days due to serious injuries, including two ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments.
