The Sekondi High Court, under the direction of Justice Gyan-Kontor, lifted an injunction against Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Amenfi Central, on Monday, November 11, 2024. The decision officially allows her to contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections after months of legal contention. The injunction initially stemmed from an order filed on May 31, 2024, in the case of Gyedu Frimpong & 4 Others versus Joana Gyan Cudjoe, the NDC, and the Electoral Commission (EC).
This order restrained Cudjoe from presenting herself as the NDC's candidate and barred the EC from recognizing her candidacy until a final determination was made.
However, this injunction has now been vacated, directing the EC to include her name in the Notice of Poll.
This decision follows an ongoing dispute that began when the EC refused to acknowledge Cudjoe as the NDC's legitimate candidate, despite a May 13 High Court ruling affirming her position.
