Guinness World Records (GWR) has dismissed claims from Ghanaian content creator Clementina Nkrumah, popularly known as Afua Nash, regarding her announced attempt to set a record for the longest eating marathon. Afua Nash had promoted a four-day, seven-hour, and 20-minute non-stop eating challenge, scheduled to begin on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the Afropod Studios, with plans to stream it live on the Savage Room show.In a campaign heavily publicized on social media, Afua Nash shared flyers and updates that garnered significant attention from her followers.
However, GWR took to Twitter to clarify its stance, revealing that it no longer tracks records based on the duration of eating marathons.
According to GWR, the organization shifted its focus to rate-based consumption records, which prioritize how much can be eaten within a short, controlled time frame.
This change reflects GWR's emphasis on safe and measurable records, diverging from extended feats that might pose health risks. "We no longer monitor records for eating over a long period of time, though we did in the past.
