The running mate of the NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has expressed confidence that the governing party can secure 85% of the presidential vote in the Ashanti Region. He stated that the party has consistently surpassed expectations and defied political commentators by securing more votes than predicted. Speaking at the launch of NPP campaign team in Ashanti Region, NAPO was optimistic about the party getting 85% vote in the Ashanti Region. "There were several pundits who said the NPP was not going to win the election in 2016, especially because of the tag against the presidential candidate [Nana Akufo-Addo] that he was arrogant or what have you. "I remember it was that time that the NPP was able to also garner the most resounding victory ever since this dispensation of our democracy- 1992. He said the party has done a lot of work in the region to garner more votes.
