Ghana coach Otto Addo has confirmed that Jordan Ayew will lead the Black Stars in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger this month.Ghana will face Angola on November 15, followed by a home game against Niger in Accra on November 18, with Ayew confirmed as captain for both matches. While Ayew was expected to wear the armband in the previous international break after Thomas Partey's withdrawal, Addo had instead appointed Mohammed Kudus as captain. This time, however, Addo clarified his decision to appoint the experienced Ayew, who debuted for Ghana in 2010, as captain."I talked to [Mohammed] Kudus for him to understand that for me he just needs to learn and grow.

I want him to remain the second captain alongside [Alexander] Djiku, but Jordan will take over from now," Addo explained at a news conference.Ghana faces a tough challenge to keep their AFCON qualification hopes alive, having failed to secure a win in their last four matches.

The Black Stars have been disappointing with two losses and two draws, leaving them on the brink of elimination from the tournament.Their last defeat to Sudan has proved especially damaging, as Sudan now only needs a single point from their next game to secure qualification at Ghana's expense. This puts pressure on the Black Stars, who must win both their remaining games-against Angola and Niger-and hope that Sudan falls short in both of their own matches to advance.
