The Ghana Police Service is actively pursuing two social media users for spreading false claims regarding the whereabouts of 16-year-old suspect driver involved the East Legon accident which claimed two lives.
This follows a recent wave of misinformation suggesting that the suspect was not at the Osu Correctional Centre, as mandated by the Court.
In a statement on Tuesday, the police clarified that the suspect was taken to the Osu Correctional Centre following a court order issued on November 1, 2024, and remained there as of Tuesday morning.
It emphasised that the circulating claims are false and constitute the offence of publishing false news, in violation of Section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
