The 89th Ghana Open Golf tournament is set to tee off from November 13 to 16, 2024, at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, marking a special event in honour of HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's 25th silver jubilee.Approximately 250 golfers from Ghana and beyond are expected, with confirmed entries from countries including Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo, Canada, the Philippines, and the USA.The tournament will feature competitions in various categories: Professional, Championship Men & Ladies, Handicap Men & Ladies, Support Men & Ladies, and Seniors.
Golfers will compete for titles across these groups, making for an inclusive and competitive event.Leonard Kwaku Okyere, President of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA), shared his excitement about the event, acknowledging Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's role in hosting. "I am very much excited to have HRM Otumfuo Osei Tutu II hosting this prestigious tournament," he stated."This tournament will test the golfing prowess of all golfers.
We have witnessed significant changes in the golfing landscape since we took over administration in 2023, and it is our wish to grow the sport to potential PGA standard in the near future."Honorary Secretary Solomon Allotey also expressed pride in the Association's ability to host the Ghana Open for two consecutive years, commending the organizing team's efforts.
He encouraged corporate Ghana to support the tournament and boost the sport's prominence nationally.
