Some of Ghana's brightest young minds from over 20 Senior High Schools will throw the spotlight on what matters to young people in the upcoming 2024 general elections at the 4th edition of The Orators on Saturday, November 9, 2024.The Orators, a premier public speaking stage designed to showcase extraordinary speakers, skilled debators and the most promising communicators from Ghana's senior high schools will address an issue central to the 2024 elections at the GNAT Hall.With a significant proportion of the population (38.2%) aged 15-35 years according to the 2020 Population and Housing Census from the Ghana Statistical Service, what the youth want deserves to be a bigger conversation in this year's elections.The Orators, organised by the Academic Talent Development program in partnership with Speech forces will provide that with the Youth Manifesto edition."One of our modules at the Academic Talent Development Program (ATDP) - Ghana - The Orators provides a platform for students to nurture their public speaking, critical thinking and research skills.
In its fourth season, I am personally looking forward to the 'Youth Manifesto edition' where the students will speak their truth on socio-economic and political issues," Abel Ohene Acquaye, Program Director of Academic Talent Development Program said.The 2024 Orators will involve schools such as Galaxy International School, PRESEC Legon, Aburi Girls SHS, St.
Thomas Aquinas, SOS HGIC, Prempeh College and many more.Ohene Acquaye noted that participants will engage with critical themes such as diplomacy, geopolitics, climate change, human rights, youth leadership, unemployment, mental health, democracy, education, AI, and how all these pertains to the 2024 elections.Contestants will present their ideas before a distinguished panel of judges drawn from education, media, and communication, who will evaluate them on clarity of thought, precision, and the structured delivery of information.Orators 2024 promises to be more than just a competition for aspiring speakers; it will serve as a transformative experience where students cultivate essential skills, foster resilience, enhance their self-esteem, and unlock the true power of their voices.
