Asante Kotoko were dealt a major blow on Sunday as they succumbed to a second successive league defeat against Heart of Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium, with top goalscorer Albert Amoah going off injured in the 71st minute.Amoah was replaced by Samuel Tenadu after going down in agony following a collision with a Heart of Lions defender.Amoah, who had scored in four successive games for the Porcupine Warriors before Lions' visit was looking for his fifth successive goal but it failed to materialise as Lions put up a gritty defensive display.Amoah, who joined Kotoko from Accra Great Olympics before the commencement of the season has already proven to be the team's most potent attacking threat, scoring five times in nine league games this season. His importance to Kotoko can't be overstated, with his five goals forming a greater part of Kotoko's eight league goals this term.Amoah has had a hand in 62.5% of the record Ghana Premier League Champions' goals, with his goalscoring spree halted by Lions on Sunday.Legon Cities, Basake Holy Stars, Karela United, Samartex, and Accra Lions have all been victims of Amoah's adeptness in putting the ball in the back of the net.But after being stretchered off with about 20 minutes to the end of Sunday's game, Kotoko's head coach Prosper Ogum fears the worst."He had a kick direct at the side of the knee, it is swollen and very painful.
As at the time I was coming in here, he could not walk; he had to be helped to get on board the bus, so it looks a serious injury.
But I think we have a competent medical staff that will be able to address it so I'm sure by Tuesday, we will be able to know the extent," Ogum said in his post-match presser.Kotoko's next four games see them travel to Bechem and Aduana while playing home ties against Nations FC and fierce rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
