Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has justified the recent closure of seven courts in the Upper East Region, a decision driven by increasing security concerns stemming from the ongoing Bawku conflict.
Her remarks were delivered at the launch of the fifth edition of the Manual on Election Adjudication on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Law Court Complex Auditorium in Accra.
This manual is designed to facilitate the prompt and fair handling of election-related legal matters in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.
The courts were shut on October 29, 2024, after alarming reports from court staff and judges highlighted significant security risks in the region.
