The government of the United States (US) has reportedly issued travel restrictions on Ghanaians responsible for undermining democracy ahead of the pending December 7, 2024, general election.
According to GHOne TV, the US Department of State has announced a new visa restriction policy against persons deemed to be responsible for undermining Ghana's democracy. "US to impose visa restrictions on Ghanaians responsible for undermining democracy ahead of the December 7 election," a new alert the media house shared on X, on Monday, October 28, 2024, was captioned.
Meanwhile, the US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia Palmer, has urged all stakeholders in the country's December 7, 2024, general election to sign the peace pact being spearheaded by the Peace Council of Ghana.
Virginia Palmer pointed out that the peace pact would help ensure that there is no violence before, during, and after the December polls. "I applaud the calls for a peaceful election that many Ghanaians have already made and urge all political parties to sign the peace pact as has happened for several election cycles running, as the strongest commitment to ensuring voters and Ghana are safe from election-related violence. "I hope it will be signed by all parties as soon as possible," she said.
