Benjamin Kofi Quashie, Chair of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of Elders for South Africa, has expressed confidence in the party's ability to defeat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in any future election, regardless of who leads the NDC after President John Dramani Mahama's tenure.

Speaking in an interview on Joy News on April 16, 2025, Quashie highlighted the NDC's strong approval ratings and the outcome of the 2024 elections demonstrate the party's dominance over the NPP. "Anytime, any day, and in any election held between the NPP with Dr.

Bawumia as their candidate, the NDC would beat them hands down," he asserted.

While acknowledging the early days of President Mahama's current government, Quashie urged the party to focus on supporting the President's administration rather than speculating about future leadership.
