The (NDC) has called on the Inspector General of Police, George Akufo Dampare, to launch an investigation into claims by NPP parliamentary candidate Felicia Tettey that she paid GH¢50,000 to the police during the limited voter registration exercise in Sagnarigu. The party said such allegations questioned the integrity of the police service, especially ahead of the December general elections, hence the need for the police hierarchy to investigate the authenticity of the claims and ensure any officer found guilty is dealt with. In leaked audio, a voice sounding like Felicia Tettey alleged that she gave the police some Gh¢50,000 during the limited registration exercise. She did not state exactly what the amount was made for; however, she was expressing her frustration at some of her constituency executives, whom she claimed were not handling party cash well. She has not confirmed or denied the voice or the content of the leaked tape.
