A Texas court has dismissed an indictment case against 3 Ghanaians, Bridget Daffour Antwi, Richard Kankam and Millicent Cindy Kankam. The case, which was brought forward by the Texas Attorney General's office, involved allegations of Medicaid fraud. The court's ruling, issued on February 6, 2020, stated:
ORDER AND NOTICE
"Upon consideration of the motion presented to me on this day, it is hereby ORDERED, ADJUDGED, and DECREED that the above-entitled and numbered cause is DISMISSED ."
This decision comes in the wake of reports by GhanaWeb sometime in 2007 which had mentioned the indictments of three Ghanaians, including Millicent Cindy Kankam, Bridget Daffour Antwi, and Richard Kankam, alongside 25 Nigerians, in connection with a Medicaid fraud scheme. The allegations involved obtaining $7.7 million in reimbursements for medical supplies through inflated billing or by submitting false claims on behalf of unsuspecting patients.
