The Health Services Workers’ Union (HSWU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has called on the government to address low wages in the health sector, saying about 15,000 workers in the public health sector earn an average of GH¢600 a month.
The union said some health workers engaged as casual staff and paid from internally generated funds earn as little as GH¢500 or less per month.
The General Secretary of the HSWU said workers in the private sector were also facing low remuneration, with some earning between GH¢500 and GH¢1,000 a month.
