The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Mr John Mbroh, has called for intensified education to rope in more informal workers onto the pension scheme.
Mr Mbroh stated this last Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, NII TackieTeikoTsuru II, to court his support to increase pension coverage for the self-employed in the country.
According to him many self-employed did not factor the importance of being on pension, because they did not see the need to be on pension "that is why the NPRA is calling on subjects such as respected individuals such as Kings, Church leaders Imam and community heads to sensitise them to the benefits of pension scheme." He further emphasised the importance of pension planning, especially for self-employed individuals who lack access to traditional employer-sponsored retirement plans. "By investing in a pension scheme, individuals can ensure a steady income stream during their olden ages. "The NPRA's outreach efforts come at a crucial time many self-employed individuals remained unaware of the benefits of pension planning.
By engaging with community leaders like the Ga Mantse, the NPRA hopes to increase awareness and encourage more people to take control of their financial status seriously," he added.
