On Wednesday, August 7, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, in a statement to recall members of Parliament indicated that the Parliamentary Service Board last year had decided to retrofit the parliamentary chamber for the 9th Parliament. He said the retrofitting has become necessary due to structural defects with the audio and video equipment in the chamber which have often disrupted proceedings such as forced suspension of proceedings or adjournment. On Thursday, the Director of Media Relations, David Damoah said the retrofitting is necessary. "For some time now, the microphones and the laptop that we upload the parliamentary documents on have structural defects, so we have to reconfigure the whole place and replace them.
