The running mate of the , (NAPO), has assured traditional authorities in the country that they would be greatly involved in the authorisation of mining activities in their communities under a presidency. According to Dr. Opoku Prempeh, the permission and involvement of chiefs in mining would be critical before any mining activity proceeds in order to protect the livelihoods of local communities. The NPP running made this commitment in response to concerns raised by Denkyirahemaa, Nana Ama Ayensuwa Saara III during his visit to the Denkyira Traditional Council in Dunkwa-On-Offin, Central Region, on Thursday, August 8, 2024. He also pointed out that aside from playing a critical role in the authorisation of mining activities, chiefs would also play a significant role in the government's decision to use lands under their jurisdiction.
