The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has cancelled the results of 380 candidates who sat the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).The West Africa sub regional examination body announced this in provisional results released on October 19."Following the completion of investigations into several cases of irregularity detected during the conduct of the examination and marking of scripts, the Final Awards and Examiners' Appointment Committee for the BECE at its 35th Meeting held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 approved … Cancellation of Subject Results of 377 school candidates and 3 private candidates for the offence of bringing foreign materials into the examination hall or colluding with other candidates." WAEC stated in a press release signed by Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi.It said the entire results of 41 school candidates and 1 private candidate were also cancelled while those of 33 school and 3 private candidates have been withheld."Meanwhile, some subject results of candidates from 149 schools have been withheld for reported irregularities.
