Amid rising tensions between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has made a firm appeal for all parties to respect the recent Supreme Court ruling.
The Supreme Court on Friday, October 18, 2024, directed Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to suspend his decision declaring four parliamentary seats vacant.
This ruling, which has significant political implications, comes at a critical time, as both parties battle to maintain influence in Parliament ahead of the 2024 elections.
Afenyo-Markin, addressing the issue, stressed that the NPP's position is not personal but rooted in the rule of law. "The court has determined the matter and has ordered the parties to file the necessary processes for the final determination of the matter.
