The Chairman of the Church of Pentecost (CoP), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has said the Church should not only save souls in the course of its ministry, but should also be concerned about what goes on in society. He said there was the need, therefore, to refocus the doors of the Church to face the world since that was where the ministry was."So, no church should say that I don't care about politics, I don't care about the leadership of the nation, I don't care about what goes on in the market place, no; it would affect the church.
So, the essence of church is to make sure that light drives darkness away," he said.GenerationApostle Nyamekye said this last Thursday at the opening of the Younger Generation Politicians and Leaders Conference of the CoP at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
Speakers at the conference included a former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Samuel Kwaku Bonsu; the Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah; the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George, and the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum.
The church, Apostle Nyamekye said, was interested in politics and leadership of the nation because its purpose in general was to transform nations."For me, if the church is not able to bring any transformation on the land, then the church is not relevant.
