The (EC) of Ghana has announced guidelines for printing the presidential and parliamentary ballots ahead of the December polls.
In a press statement dated October 14, 2024, and signed by Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman of Operations at the EC, it was disclosed that the commission used the total number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) plus a two percent increase to determine its ballot statistics.
According to the EC, this approach will guide the printing of the ballot papers for both the presidential and parliamentary elections. "In arriving at the ballot statistics, the Commission took into account the total number of voters on the 2024 Provisional Voters Register (PVR) plus a two percent increase," part of the statement read.
While acknowledging that not every registered voter will cast their ballot in the 2024 general election, the EC expressed confidence in its methodology for printing the ballot papers to avoid shortages or wastage due to excess.
