An energy Analyst and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of making the government's fight against illegal small-scale miners (Galamsey) difficult.
He said whereas the government is fighting galamsey, NDC Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Candidates are in the mining areas campaigning against the government for fighting the illicit small-scale mining practice.
Speaking on the Big Issue on TV3 on Monday, October 7 he said "One of our partners in development is NDC, they will sit on TV and speak on galamsey but their MPs and parliamentary candidates go and fight against policies of government to win seats.
Go to Evalue Gyira, Upper West Dankyira, Akwatia, and Pristia Huney Valley, all these were NPP seats that we lost to NDC over Galamsey "We have not had an honest partner, he who calls for equality must come with clean hands, we need partners to fight against galamsey." Kwadwo Poku further stated that everybody is concerned about mining in water bodies due to the destruction of the environment and the rivers.
