The University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) has appointed Professor Christiana Hammond as the Rector of the Institute of Jour­nalism, formerly known as Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).

Hammond, an Associate Professor in Intercultural Commu­nication and Pragmatics is the first female to head the country's pre­miere journalism school established 65 years ago on October 16, 1959.
