The director of the Institute for Environment and  Sanitation Studies, Professor Fosu Mensah has suggested to the government to ban small-scale mining for at least a year as part of an effort to deal with the illegal mining (Galamsey).

In her view, a one-year ban will help to restore the water bodies and the environment. "A ban for at least a year will help the river plants restore the ecosystem," she said on the Agenda show on TV3 on Monday, September 30.
