  • Location: Lashibi – Accra 
  • Reports To: Managing Director

Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all production operations to ensure that manufacturing activities are carried out effi ciently, safely, and in accordance with quality and regulatory standards. The role provides strategic leadership for production teams while ensuring operational targets, productivity, cost effi ciency, and customer requirements are consistently achieved.

The Production Manager oversees production planning, workforce management, equipment utilization, inventory coordination, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role works closely with Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Procurement, Engineering, Maintenance, and Senior Management to ensure smooth and effi cient manufacturing operations.

The Production Manager is expected to build a high-performing production team, drive operational excellence, improve manufacturing processes, and support the company's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Operations Management

  • Plan, organize and oversee all production activities to meet production schedules and customer demand.
  • Develop daily, weekly and monthly production plans.
  • Ensure effi cient utilization of labour, equipment and production resources.
  • Monitor production output and ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Ensure products are manufactured according to approved quality specifi cations.
  • Coordinate production schedules with procurement, warehouse and quality teams.
  • Monitor manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Ensure production capacity is aligned with business requirements.
  • Manage production priorities to meet delivery deadlines.

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, mentor and develop Production Supervisors and production employees.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Identify workforce training and development needs.
  • Manage staffi ng requirements and workforce planning.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication across departments.
  • Address employee performance and disciplinary issues in accordance with company policies.

Operational Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and operational effi ciency.
  • Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
  • Improve workfl ow, production methods and equipment utilization.
  • Reduce production waste and improve overall manufacturing effi ciency.
  • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Lead lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives where applicable.

Quality Assurance & Food Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, quality assurance and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to maintain product quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), hygiene and sanitation standards.
  • Investigate quality deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure production documentation is complete and audit-ready.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture throughout production operations.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
  • Investigate production incidents and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure all employees use appropriate PPE and follow safety procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with environmental regulations and company sustainability initiatives.

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Work with Procurement and Warehouse teams to ensure uninterrupted availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
  • Monitor material consumption and production yields.
  • Minimize production losses and inventory waste.
  • Ensure proper stock control within the production area.
  • Monitor production resource utilization and identify improvement opportunities.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate production records, shift reports and operational documentation.
  • Monitor production performance and prepare regular operational reports
  • Document equipment issues, downtime and maintenance requirements
  • Support audit readiness and compliance documentation processes

Process Improvement & Efficiency

  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity and operational effi ciency
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production process
  • Recommend operational improvements to reduce waste and optimize workfl ow
  • Assist in implementing systems and procedures to improve production performance

Requirements

Required Skills or Experience

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Production Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related fi eld
  • Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in production Management, preferably in FMCG or food manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of production processes, food safety standards and operational management
  • Preferred Profile
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational tasks
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • Familiarity with production reporting tools and basic Microsoft Office applications
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on quality, effi ciency, and continuous improvement
