Job Description

  • DEPARTMENT: Assembly Plant
  • REPORTING TO: Assembly Plant Manager
  • LOCATION: Tema (Head Office Assembly Plant)
JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Low and High Voltage Electrician to join our Assembly Plant in Tema. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, wiring, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on newly assembled earth-moving equipment and heavy-duty vehicles. This role is critical to ensuring that all machines leaving our plant meet stringent quality, safety, and performance standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for heavy-duty vehicles and earth-moving machinery.
  • Install, terminate, and route complete electrical wiring harnesses for Low Voltage (12V/24V) systems, including lighting, starting, charging, and control circuits.
  • Install and configure High Voltage (HV) components where applicable (e.g., electric-drive systems, hybrid powertrains, or high-capacity auxiliary systems), ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Mount and connect electrical components such as alternators, starters, sensors, ECUs (Electronic Control Units), solenoids, and battery banks.
  • Utilize diagnostic scanners, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment to identify and resolve electrical faults in assembled machines.
  • Perform systematic root-cause analysis on recurring electrical issues and recommend corrective actions to the engineering team.
  • Troubleshoot CAN bus systems, data communication networks, and proprietary electronic control modules.
  • Conduct rigorous functional tests on all electrical systems post-assembly, including safety interlocks, warning systems, and emergency shutdown features.
  • Perform insulation resistance testing and high-potential (hipot) testing on high-voltage circuits to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with Zonda Tec's quality standards and international safety regulations (e.g., ISO, IEC standards).
  • Provide electrical technical support to the Servicing Department for vehicles returned from branches or customer sites.
  • Assist in retrofitting or upgrading electrical systems on existing customer vehicles when required.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical modifications, repairs, and test results for each machine assembled.
  • Strictly adhere to all Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures, arc-flash safety protocols, and high-voltage handling guidelines.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with Ghana's Electricity Regulations and international best practices.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in the assembly bay.
  • Monitor and report on electrical component inventory levels, ensuring availability of critical parts (cables, connectors, fuses, relays, sensors) to avoid assembly delays.
  • Suggest cost-effective alternatives for electrical components without compromising quality.

  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of practical electrical experience, preferably in:
  1. Heavy equipment assembly or manufacturing.
  2. Automotive or commercial vehicle electrical systems.
  3. Industrial plant maintenance.
  • Proven experience working with both Low Voltage (12V/24V DC) and High Voltage (up to 600V DC or 440V AC) systems.
  • Hands-on experience with CAN bus diagnostics and electronic engine management systems.
