Job Description

BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd (BGSL) is a socially responsible for-profit organization, engaging people, especially women in sustainable economic and income generating activities in Ghana. Our mission is to provide a range of financial services responsibly to people at the bottom of the pyramid. BGSL is seeking applications from competent, dynamic and self-motivated individuals to fill the following position:

Duty Station: Abuakwa – Ashanti Region

Purpose of the Role

The HR & Training Officer will support the HR department in executing human resource functions, with emphasis on recruitment, employee relations, training and development, performance management, and HR administration. The role ensures that staff are effectively supported and continuously developed in line with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment

  • Receive staff requisitions and initiate recruitment processes.
  • Liaise with departmental heads to prepare job specifications.
  • Source suitable candidates through approved recruitment channels.
  • Design and place recruitment advertisements.
  • Identify cost-effective recruitment channels.
  • Develop assessment tools for candidate selection.
  • Conduct preliminary interviews and screening.
  • Schedule final interviews and coordinate feedback from departmental heads.
  • Administer online assessments where required.
  • Liaise with recruitment agencies when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with recruitment policies and procedures.
  • Recommend improvements to recruitment processes.
  • Ensure vacancies are filled within agreed timelines.

Training and Development

  • Conduct training needs assessments.
  • Develop and update learning resources, manuals, videos, guides, and training materials.
  • Engage and manage external trainers and consultants.
  • Design and deliver training programmes, webinars, e-learning courses, and workshops.
  • Conduct onboarding programmes for new employees.
  • Organize testing and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Analyze training feedback and implement improvements.
  • Stay informed on industry learning trends and recommend new learning systems.
  • Conduct training evaluation analyses and recommend enhancements.
  • Maintain training records and certifications.

Performance Management

  • Support performance appraisal processes and KPI implementation.
  • Monitor performance review cycles.
  • Assist staff with performance improvement and career development initiatives.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with recruitment procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare HR reports.
  • Support HR-related audits.
  • Facilitate renewal of work permits, residence permits, ECOWAS ID cards, and related documentation for expatriate staff.

Employee Engagement

  • Support initiatives that promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Coordinate employee engagement and wellness programmes.
  • Organize team-building activities.
  • Address staff welfare concerns and support retention initiatives.

Personnel Records Management

  • Maintain and update employee records.
  • Ensure confidentiality of employee information.
  • Document investigations, meetings, and resolutions.
  • Distribute HR communications and policy updates.
  • Perform general HR administrative duties.

Payroll and Benefits Support

  • Coordinate salary and benefits processing with HR and Finance.
  • Assist staff with benefits enrolment and related queries.
  • Monitor leave, absenteeism, and overtime records.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Promote and implement safeguarding practices across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support on safeguarding matters.
  • Ensure staff receive safeguarding training and support.
  • Follow and enforce safeguarding reporting procedures.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Human Resource Management.
  • Experience in the financial services or banking sector is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Ghana Labour Laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience in training needs analysis, curriculum development, and adult learning principles.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Human Resource Management
    • Business Administration
    • Psychology
    • Or a related field
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CHRMP, CIPD, SPHRM) is an added advantage.
