Job Summary
The Cashier is responsible for processing all incoming and outgoing cash transactions accurately and efficiently. The Cashier plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth financial operations, maintaining accurate cash records, and providing excellent customer service to clients, vendors, or internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive payments via cash, credit/debit cards, checks, or electronic transfers.
- Issue receipts and maintain proper documentation for all transactions.
- Disburse cash for petty expenses, reimbursements, or other authorized payments.
- Maintain daily cash transaction records and ensure accuracy.
- Reconcile cash drawers with transaction records at the end of each shift.
- Prepare cash reports and deposit cash into the bank securely.
- Address customer inquiries related to payments, receipts, or account balances.
- Provide prompt, courteous, and professional service.
- Follow company policies and procedures for cash handling and security.
- Ensure compliance with financial controls to prevent theft or fraud.
- Report any discrepancies or suspicious activities immediately.
- Prepare and deposit daily cash collections.
- Coordinate with the bank for cash deposits and withdrawals.
- Assist in inventory management for cash-related supplies (receipts, forms, etc.).
- Support audits by providing requested cash transaction documentation.
- Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills or Experience
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Prior experience as a cashier or in a similar role, preferably in a large organization.
- Proficiency in cash register systems, and basic accounting software.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle cash responsibly and maintain confidentiality.
- Trustworthy, honest, and dependable.
