JOB SUMMARY
The Auto Electrician at Zonda Tec Ghana Limited is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and components in various vehicles. The role requires technical expertise in automotive wiring, lighting, starting, charging, and electronic control systems. The ideal candidate will be skilled, safety-conscious, and committed to delivering high-quality service to customers.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspect and diagnose electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic tools and manual testing methods.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and fault codes to identify issues accurately.
- Repair or replace faulty electrical components including alternators, starters, sensors, wiring harnesses, lights, relays, fuses, and control modules.
- Perform routine maintenance on vehicle electrical systems (battery testing, terminal cleaning, charging system checks).
- Install new electrical accessories such as car audio systems, alarms, navigation units, auxiliary lighting, and other electronic devices upon customer request.
- Ensure all electrical repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
- Use appropriate tools and protective equipment to prevent short circuits, fires, or personal injury.
- Explain electrical issues and repair options to customers in clear, simple terms.
- Provide cost estimates for parts and labor before commencing work.
- Advise customers on proper use and care of vehicle electrical systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Assist other technicians when needed and support overall branch operations.
Requirements
Required Skills or Experience
- Minimum of Technical Certificate / NVTI / TVET qualification in Auto Electrical or Automotive Engineering.
- Valid driver’s license (preferred).
- At least 3–4 years of practical experience as an auto electrician, preferably in a garage, dealership, or automotive workshop.
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical systems (conventional and modern/electronic).
- Proficiency with diagnostic scan tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and wiring diagrams.
- Familiarity with various vehicle makes, including both foreign and local models common in Ghana.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Detail-oriented and methodical in fault-finding.
- Honest and responsible with company tools, customer vehicles, and spare parts.
- Able to work under pressure, especially during peak hours or urgent repairs.
- Good communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
