Editorial policy

This page sets out how we choose what to write, how we check it, and what happens when we get something wrong. It applies to every article on Ghana Summary.

1. Originality

Every guide is written for this site. We do not buy articles from content farms, do not spin or rewrite other people’s posts, and do not publish the same text anywhere else first. Where we use an idea, a fact or a phrase from another source, we link to it and credit it.

2. Sources

We prefer primary sources: ministries and agencies, the Bank of Ghana, the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Ghana Immigration Service, the National Health Insurance Scheme, universities, courts and published legislation. Where only secondary material exists, we use established news organisations and reference works, and we say so when the picture is contested.

3. Writing for readers, not algorithms

Headlines describe what is on the page. Introduction paragraphs answer the question in the title rather than teasing it. Sections are structured so a reader can skim to the part they need and still leave with the correct answer. We do not keyword-stuff, we do not hide text, and we do not publish auto-generated summaries of our own summaries.

4. Numbers and money

Prices, fees, exchange rates and taxes change. We describe them in relative or categorical terms wherever a precise figure would date quickly, and we point you at the body that publishes the official number. We do not invent statistics, surveys, quotes or case studies — ever. If we have not measured it, we do not claim it.

5. Updates and corrections

Each article shows a publication date and, when it has been revised, a last-updated date. Material changes are made silently only when they are trivial (typo fixes, clarifications); anything that changes the advice a reader would follow is treated as a correction. Send corrections to our contact page — most are checked and fixed within a few working days.

6. Independence and money

We do not accept payment for coverage, for a link, or for a favourable review. If we ever publish sponsored material it will be labelled “Sponsored” or “Advertisement” at the top of the page, and the advertiser will have no say over editorial conclusions. Advertising on the site does not influence which topics we cover or what we say about them.

7. Conflicts of interest

Writers and reviewers declare any interest in a business, organisation or place they write about. Where a conflict exists, the piece is assigned to someone else or the writer is clearly identified as a participant.

8. AI and automation

We use software tools for spelling, grammar, formatting and research assistance. Publishing decisions, structure, wording and factual verification stay with human editors, who are named on the work they sign off. We do not publish unreviewed machine output.

9. Not professional advice

Our guides are general information. For legal, medical, financial or immigration decisions, use a qualified professional and the relevant official authority. See our disclaimer.
