Ghana needs energy policy to guide decisions – Benjamin Quashie

He believes that if Ghana does things right, it could even be an exporter of energy.

He noted that Ghana needs to make a concerted effort to ensure that managers of the economy are able to come up with a policy in line with the World Bank’s policy.

In offering counsel to the government, Quashie argued that Ghana needs to adhere to the directives of the World Bank, since they have a programme with them.

He emphasized that this would help Ghana avoid any further energy crisis going forward as a country.

With reference to the ‘dumsor’ debate, the SA NDC Council Chair indicated that this has always been an area where there has been a tug-of-war between his NDC and the NPP about excess capacity

He concluded by saying that the time has come for Ghana to move away from policies that target the next election and instead make policies that ensure that Ghanaians are ok.

He emphasized that the energy sector policies should be looked at devoid of politics to ensure that Ghana does not go back into ‘dumsor’.
