TESCON-Manchester urges youth to partake in drafting of manifestos

The Manchester branch of the New Patriotic Party’s Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) has urged the youth in Ghana to play active roles in the drafting of manifestos for their respective political parties.

“We call on all youth groups within the various political parties to play a frontal role in the development of their respective political party manifesto for election 2020,” a statement issued by the group admonished.

The group noted that problems facing the youth are a result of the hopelessness and general apathy in national issues.

“The problems facing Ghanaian youth are as diverse as any population segment. This ranges from unemployment, drug addiction, migration, political violence, materialism, sense of hopelessness and general apathy in national issues. Contending with these overwhelming challenges calls for the active involvement of the youth who are most affected by these socio-economic predicaments,” the group added in the statement.

TESCON-Manchester in the statement also admonished the youth to desist from being used as tools for perpetrating violence in the upcoming general elections.

“We seize this unique opportunity to entreat all youth groups to conduct their activities with decorum and decency as we approach 2020 electioneering season,” the group added.

THE YOUTH MUST TAKE CHARGE OF 2020 ELECTIONS MANIFESTO DEVELOPMENT

Problems facing Ghanaian youth are as diverse as any population segment. This ranges from unemployment, drug addiction, migration, political violence, materialism, sense of hopelessness and general apathy in national issues. Contending with these overwhelming challenges, calls for the active involvement of the youth who are mostly affected by these socio-economic predicaments.

In this regard, we call on all Youth groups within the various political parties to play frontal role in the development of their respective political party’s manifesto for the election 2020.

In the NPP fraternity, TESCON has been a visible constituency within the Youth wing. However, its contribution towards policy positions and manifesto development appears to be limited. We therefore urge the party and the entire TESCON to endeavour to strike new paths of engagement in party and national discourses. As we do so, we also admonish our peers from the NDC and other political parties to be doing same.

TESCON Manchester has already taken keen interest in advocating for a manifesto that captures the supreme interest of the youth. As Youth, we understand our predicaments better than any other age group, hence the urgency for all political parties to grant us the unreserved audience remain instructive.

We seize this unique opportunity to entreat all youth groups to conduct their activities with decorum and decency as we approach 2020 electioneering season. We wish all TESCON members contesting various parliamentary positions the best of luck.

In fine, we acknowledge the hard work of H.E the President of the Republic of Ghana and the entire NPP leadership, specifically the Youth Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye, for making room for contributions from all youth groups within the NPP. Thank You.

Long Live TESCON-Manchester!!!!
Long Live NPP!!!!!!!!
God Bless Ghana!!!!!!!!

…….Signed…….
Executive Committee
