Yaya Touré makes history as first African manager in UCL league phase

By GhanaSummary NewsroomNigeria

By Enitan Abdultawab Manchester City and Ivory Coast legend Yaya Touré has made history by becoming the first African coach to lead a club into the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

The historic achievement puts Touré ahead of Nigerian coach Ndubuisi Egbo, who guided Albanian club FK Tirana through the Champions League qualifying rounds in 2020 but did not reach the group stage.

Before moving into management, Touré enjoyed an illustrious playing career with Barcelona, Manchester City and the Ivory Coast national team.
