Among the recommendations put forward by the female creatives in the report are the finalisation and strengthening of the Creative Economy Policy and Creative Economy Bill, the development of minimum rates and rate cards, and closing the gender pay gap.“The sector has enormous potential for innovation, cultural influence and economic growth, but young women continue to experience unequal pay, precarious work arrangements, discrimination, harassment and entrenched gender norms.” Policy and Bill Dr Josephine Atenyi, Secretary of Development in the Department for Youth Affairs and Creative Economy, says the report will help shape existing policies and inform new interventions responding to the realities facing young Kenyans in the creative industry.
