Why Kuppet wants CBA to be reviewed Kuppet has demanded an immediate review of the CBA it signed with the teacher’s employer. Education Just now

The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) has demanded an immediate review of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) it signed with the teacher’s employer, arguing that newly approved salaries for civil servants have widened pay disparities between teachers and other public sector employees.

The union said the current salary structure discriminates against teachers, particularly those in senior grades, after the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) approved revised salary scales and allowances for national government civil servants set to take effect from August 1.

Although entry-level teachers earn slightly more than their counterparts in the civil service, Kuppet argues that salary progression heavily favours other public servants.
