UniAbuja promotes 34 academics to professorial ranks
By Joseph Erunke, Abuja The Governing Council of the University of Abuja, now Yakubu Gowon University, has approved the promotion of 34 academic staff to professorial ranks.
A statement issued on Sunday by the Acting Director, Information and University Relations, Dr Habib Yakoob, said the promotions were ratified during the 101st Regular Meeting of the Governing Council held on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, 2026.
He assured that the university would continue to strengthen its internal processes to ensure timely consideration of external assessment reports and promotion of deserving academics in line with established guidelines.
