TUC demands living wage, decent work for Nigerian workers

By Haruna Aliyu, Birnin Kebbi BIRNIN KEBBI — The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has called on the Federal and state governments to improve workers’ welfare by implementing a living wage and promoting decent work conditions across the country.

Toro said Nigerian workers need concrete action rather than promises, stressing that a living wage remains essential to improving their standard of living.

The summit, held at the Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi, was attended by the National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr Titus Amba; representatives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ); former President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba; officials of the Trade Union Congress and other labour leaders, as well as government officials.
